Hi friend,
the major difference between UPSC and SSC is that the UPSC conduct exam for Category A officers and SSC conduct exam for category B,C,D officers.
There are broadly two wings under Union Govt to recruit candidates for various Ministries/Department of Central Government. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruits Group B and above posts (mostly Gazetted). Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits mainly some Group B and C posts (all non-Gazetted).
Friend, both SSC and UPSC are recruitment agency instituted by Government of India. The basic difference in both SSC and UPSC is that SSC is engaged in recruiting the Group C and Group D posts in various ministries and department of Central Government. On the other hand, UPSC is engaged in recruitment in Group A and Group B posts in various ministries and departments of Central Government.
