Friend, I would like to advise to prepare for GK section for SSC exam by go through the NCERT books of 8th to 12th class related to History, Geography, Economics, physics, chemistry, biology, indian polity.

You should read newspaper regularly.
Read magazine like pratiyogita darpan at daily basis.
Listen english news for the preparation GS.
You should also make notes of general science.

Friend, according to SSC syllabus for General Awareness: Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates generalawareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be
designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and
experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also
include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to sports, History,
Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc.
These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
For preparation of above mentioned topics you may take account of following:
1. History, Geography, Polity, Economics - Go through NCERT books of 11th and 12th.
2. Read news-paper everyday (suggested - Indian Express or Hindu). For economics update you can go through Economic Times. For saving time strictly avoid Political and spicy news.
3. There are few web-pages which are highly dividend oriented: PIB, PhysicalGeography, GKToday, Indiandiplomacy etc.
4. Go through one or two monthly magazines, just in case you missed anything.
5. You can refer few books also (if time allows)
a. Polity - Indian Polity by Laxmikant
b. India Year Book - cover culture chapter as a must
c. Physical Geography by G.C. Leong
6. For practice take model question tests and also never forget to go through previous year papers (don't get stressed if you are not able to solve few question of previous year papers, as those were a part of current issues at that point of time)
